Modern & Classic VMFA Wedding

It was an incredible day filled to the brim with stunning details. Luisa & Matt decided on March 19 for their wedding date and we were blessed with one of the most beautiful Virginia spring days I’ve ever seen for a wedding. Luisa’s eye for a classy and modern wedding came to life and I was blown away by the details and how her vision came together for their VMFA wedding in Richmond, Virginia.

They waited 441 days for this day. It was so evident on their wedding day just how loved they are by the people who know them and knowing them, you just can’t help it. I loved every minute of working with these two and it never even felt like work because it was just so much fun! It was truly my honor being their photographer and friend. Enjoy scrolling through my favorites from this gorgeous whimsical and colorful summer Old Silk Mill wedding!

Last Friday I got to meet Matt & Luisa at Libby Hill Park in Richmond VA for their engagement session and I have to say it was definitely one of the most fun engagement sessions I’ve ever done! The weather was perfect and it was a sunny day which made for gorgeous golden hour portraits! Luisa and Matt were so fun to talk with and getting to hear more about them and their sweet pets! Especially since their 5 month old puppy, Max, joined us for photos and I was over the moon!

Many brides this year had been forced to postpone their wedding and it’s made really difficult when as a bride with an October 2020 date has to postpone to 2021 but your venue, photographer and other vendors already booked the same weekend date in 2021! There are clearly really popular months and dates to have a wedding and it gets booked up twice as fast as normal due to the current state of events.

But don’t fret, bride to be! There are 52 weeks in a year with SO many more options than just a Saturday wedding in June or October. I’m here to share why non-peak wedding dates are actually the best, and not just because it’s a pandemic 😉

5 ways to elevate your engagement session for a more luxurious & genuine engagement experience that feels like you.

nally here, you see it all coming together! Photographers have various parts of the wedding day that they absolutely LOVE and that for me are the DETAILS. I make sure to carve out some time at every wedding to find, and beautifully arrange your carefully picked out details. From the invitation suite you sent out all over to guests, to the incredibly gorgeous shoes, your rings and more!

I know you’ve imagined the best way to end your wedding day with a fun Grand Exit surrounded by your friends and family cheering, waving sparklers or blowing bubbles or throwing confetti (biodegradable of course!) Except… you just don’t have enough coverage time for your photographer to stay until the end of the wedding day! Now you’re faced with the struggle of deciding whether to cut out those getting ready photos of you with your girls and the sweet moments of your mom zipping up your dress, a first look with dad and the beautiful detail photos OR cutting your reception coverage short and missing your exit photos!

There’s so many things that go into the most perfect bridal day attire. A gorgeous bridal gown carefully picked by you, you’ve put hours of thought into your shoes, your hairstyle and jewelry. And of course, the veil debate comes along too. Should you wear a veil or not?

Ahhh my favorite blog post of the year is here! Last week I shared my Best of Engagements blog post and I loved getting to go back through all my favorite portraits over the 2019 year and now it’s the WEDDING side of things! 14 incredibly beautiful weddings. 14 adorable couples. 14 days of fun and joy and memories. Through the year, every single couple has been beyond incredible, they were so worth it and I’m so thankful for all my sweet couples. So, I hope you enjoy all the gorgeousness from my 2019 Weddings and I’m excited to see what 2020 will hold!
