Back in January to celebrate the launch of my brand new website, I gave away a Signature Engagement Session Experience and Isabela won for herself and her fiance Nathan! As we spent time talking and planning the engagement session, I got to really have fun developing a friendship and working relationship with Bela and was needless to say thrilled that she wanted her engagement session at Raven’s Roost Overlook in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
As a Richmond VA wedding photographer, I was fully expecting a scorching 96f engagement session but was pleasantly surprised that it was breezy and cooler at the overlook than I had anticipated which honestly just made the session that much better! Bela’s dress was blowing in the wind beautifully and I couldn’t have asked for a better help with making her dress flowy!
It was quite the engagement experience when a wedding party came up to us and a very disgruntled woman started yelling at us and getting in the way (or attempting to) during our photos. Bela and Nathan stayed super cool about it despite her efforts to ruin our time, my husband who decided to come along with and their friend Melody talked to the woman while we took our portraits and moved along to let the Very Disgruntled Woman have her moment. Resulting in many jokes said during the rest of our session, which Nathan whispered in Bela’s ear to make her laugh for the camera.
After the Very Disgruntled Woman and her party left, we grabbed more portraits with Bela & Nathan’s dog Milo and popped some champagne to celebrate. It was a perfect golden hour with such a good looking couple (seriously, they were models) that I think I’m going to be obsessed with these portraits for a long time.
Bela & Nathan, thank you for going with the flow, being super cool and incredible humans.
It was a time trying to narrow down photos but here are my favorites from their gorgeous spring Raven’s Roost engagement session.
