It was an incredible day filled to the brim with stunning details. Luisa & Matt decided on March 19 for their wedding date and we were blessed with one of the most beautiful Virginia spring days I’ve ever seen for a wedding. Luisa’s eye for a classy and modern wedding came to life and I was blown away by the details and how her vision came together for their VMFA wedding in Richmond, Virginia.
They waited 441 days for this day. It was so evident on their wedding day just how loved they are by the people who know them and knowing them, you just can’t help it. I loved every minute of working with these two and it never even felt like work because it was just so much fun! It was truly my honor being their photographer and friend. Enjoy scrolling through my favorites from this gorgeous whimsical and colorful summer Old Silk Mill wedding!
Last Friday I got to meet Matt & Luisa at Libby Hill Park in Richmond VA for their engagement session and I have to say it was definitely one of the most fun engagement sessions I’ve ever done! The weather was perfect and it was a sunny day which made for gorgeous golden hour portraits! Luisa and Matt were so fun to talk with and getting to hear more about them and their sweet pets! Especially since their 5 month old puppy, Max, joined us for photos and I was over the moon!
If we learned anything during 2020, it was to be flexible, go with the flow and that things will always work out. Katelyn and Sam’s wedding was no exception! The virus stalled their wedding from May 30 to August 15th, where it then again changed plans for them. Instead of the bigger wedding they were planning, they changed venues and hosted an intimate wedding with their bridal party and families at Touchstone Manor in Standardsville VA while saving the big reception for August 2021!
When I sat down in the first few days of January, planning out my year, I never would’ve thought this year would’ve gone the way it has. Despite the chaos that 2020 has given us, Karlie and Tanner were able to have their wedding day at the Floyd Event Center in Floyd, Virginia. There were so many things that could’ve put a damper on their day (COVID, my fears that Virginia would go back to Phase 2, guest restrictions, a torrential downpour, road closures on the way to the wedding…) but NONE of it could’ve stopped the pure joy of the day.
March 29, 2020 was always going to be their day. I eagerly waited March for their beautiful wedding day in Washington DC during the cherry blossom season and within the span of just a couple weeks, everything changed in the US. Still, we kept our fingers crossed for our Plan B: an elopement in DC on their original date. It was such an honor and complete joy to have been there for them as they exchanged the sweetest vows, and got officially married!
Ahhh my favorite blog post of the year is here! Last week I shared my Best of Engagements blog post and I loved getting to go back through all my favorite portraits over the 2019 year and now it’s the WEDDING side of things! 14 incredibly beautiful weddings. 14 adorable couples. 14 days of fun and joy and memories. Through the year, every single couple has been beyond incredible, they were so worth it and I’m so thankful for all my sweet couples. So, I hope you enjoy all the gorgeousness from my 2019 Weddings and I’m excited to see what 2020 will hold!
